IBM Private Cloud: Application Modernisation

Over the past number of years, DevOps teams have been developing their applications at an overwhelming rate. This has put a huge strain on IT departments with regards to handling DevOps teams’ requests. One example of this would be allocating resources for the development and testing of their applications. Since IT departments have been under considerable pressure to keep up with the requests from the DevOps teams, they have had to find alternative options.

This was how IT departments arrived at the idea of the cloud and working in the cloud. Not only was it cost effective, it was also time effective and can handle the speeds DevOps teams required in the timely manner the teams needed the resources – which typically is on demand.

So, at this point I hear you ask why would you need private cloud if you use can use public cloud? Well over time application development in the public cloud has gotten to the point where it is no longer capable of fulfilling the level of security requirements some companies required. Due to this, the concept of private cloud was developed where companies could have all the advantages of public cloud with the extra benefits of having greater control, increased performance and tighter security over their applications.

Cloud infrastructure allows DevOps teams to utilise capabilities such as Kubernetes for container development and management providing greater control over your applications. Developing and upgrading your legacy applications using Kubernetes will bring these slow unresponsive apps up to the modern standards developers require.

IBM can help you achieve the above having adopted the Kubernetes open source platform with both their public and private cloud offerings. This gives the developers the chance to combine both their management of IBM public and IBM private cloud along with other vendors into one dashboard to manage all their applications going forward.

IBM Cloud Private helps enterprises transform by providing the tools to develop new cloud-native applications and modernise existing applications but within the security and isolation of a data centre of their choosing. For more information download our solution brief https://enterprise-software.co.uk/resources/develop-and-deploy-apps-with-ibm-cloud-private-enterprise/
